Safety & Compliance

Transportation of Dangerous Goods

Transportation of Dangerous Goods certification for drivers. One day, $100, valid across most of Canada and the US.

About This Course

If you ship anything classified as Dangerous Goods — paint, calcium hypochlorite, fuel, even certain wools — you, your driver, or your employee needs a valid TDG certification before the load leaves the dock. One day, $100, certificate valid across most of Canada and the United States.

Why TDG exists

Based on real accident data and safety research, Transport Canada writes the standards. The Canadian Transport Emergency Centre (CANUTEC) is the federal 24-hour line for incidents. Inside BC, the provincial Transport of Dangerous Goods Act and Regulation mirror the federal program for road transport. The result: a certificate that’s recognized just about everywhere you’ll ship.

What we cover

  • Federal regulations and how Transport Canada classifies goods
  • The BC-specific TDG program for road transport
  • Risk classes, packaging, labelling, and documentation
  • Historical incidents — what went wrong, what got fixed
  • CANUTEC — when to call, what to tell them
  • Final written examination

Who this is for

Both novice and professional drivers. Whether you’re a one-truck operator or a fleet manager certifying your whole roster, the certificate is the same standard.
