About This Course

CSTT Air Brake Endorsement Course

If you’re planning to get into commercial driving, you’ll eventually need an air brake endorsement—and CSTT offers a focused weekend course to get you there.

Course Schedule & Format

  • Total time: 11 hours over one weekend
  • Cost: $250 (ICBC fees are separate)

Saturday – Theory (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM)

Classroom-based training covering:

  • How air brake systems actually work
  • Relevant laws and regulations
  • Key chapters of the Driving Commercial Vehicles manual you must know thoroughly for the ICBC multiple-choice exam

Sunday – Practical (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM)

Hands-on, equipment-based training:

  • Real-world inspection of air brake systems
  • On-the-ground practice, so dress for the weather and physical work
  • Practical skills check and evaluation

After the Course

  • If you pass the practical evaluation, you receive CSTT certification.
  • You then have 90 days and up to 3 attempts to pass the ICBC multiple-choice air brake exam.
  • Once you pass the ICBC exam and pay their fee, the air brake endorsement is added to your licence.

Important Note

  • CSTT’s course and practical certification do not guarantee that ICBC will issue the endorsement.
  • Final approval is strictly between you and ICBC.
  • CSTT reports strong pass rates, but ICBC’s decision is independent.
