Endorsements

Heavy Trailer Endorsement

Tow trailers over 4,600 kg with your existing licence — no air brakes required. The endorsement for farms, building supply, light construction.

About This Course

A heavy trailer endorsement lets you tow trailers over 4,600 kg with your existing licence — as long as neither the truck nor the trailer has air brakes. It’s ideal for farm equipment, building-supply runs, light construction, and moving mid-size gear like skid-steer loaders.

Who needs it

If you’re towing anything over 4,600 kg behind a single-axle truck without air brakes, you need this endorsement.

If your towing vehicle has more than one axle, you’re into Class 3 licence territory instead. Tell us what you’re hauling and what you’re hauling it with, and we’ll confirm what you actually need.

Why the pre-trip matters

Most new students underestimate the pre-trip inspection. Most experienced drivers swear by it.

A solid pre-trip:

  • Catches problems in your driveway, not on the highway
  • Helps you manage increased weight and longer braking distances
  • Keeps you aware of bigger blind spots
  • Reminds you to account for added height (low bridges, overhead gas-station canopies, building eaves)

What you’ll walk out with

  • A comprehensive pre-trip inspection routine
  • Confident backing — even in tight farm and supply yards
  • Defensive driving skills under load
  • Confidence in confined-space maneuvering — fuel stations, yards, narrow lots
